Lie #21: This building is God’s house.
Happy April Fool’s Day! I wish the below story was pretend, but it’s not. I wish this because if it was pretend I think many people living the lesser life of religion may actually know the truth Paul speaks of in Acts 17, “for in him we live and move and have our being.”
A year ago I stood in a bunchy line in the hilly town of Bethlehem, Israel. We arrived to the back of the line from the steep narrow street that led us from our bus to the church. The line snaked out of the Church of the Nativity, the traditional site of the birth of Christ.
The Church of the Nativity was built over the spot believed to be Jesus’ birthplace. The spot is in a cave under the altar, down a stone stairwell at the front of the sanctuary. › Continue reading
